Involvement at Asbury
Click on pictures at left to get a taste of how Asbury people are involved and they serve.
Through our worship, fellowship, education, and service, we strive to enbody the love of God as expressed through Jesus.
Although, like most, we fall short of our goals, we believe we are motivated by Christ's example to love and care for
one another...here and around the world.
Music

Many at Asbury are actively involved in music. Through hymns and praise we express our spirituality.

Bell choirs and choral choirs are integral components of our worship and fellowship. Both adults, youth, and children
are very involved in the music of the church.
Youth
Asbury has an active youth ministry for those from pre-school thourgh high school.

Rainbow Sound is a young people's choir and contributes often to worship services.
Handbells are very popular at Asbury and the youth are not left out of this arena. The "Clappers for Christ" are an
active and popular group among Asbury youth. Of course education is important, and Asbury offers the usual Sunday School classes
and has youth groups.
Presence in Our Community
As Christians, we believe that we are to strive to show the presence of Christ in our community.
Once a month, the food wagon sits outside the chruch, offering free food to anyone who stops by. A great opportunity to
refresh others and to make the community more aware of us in a friendly atmosphere.
The Asbury Food Wagon can also be
found at various community functions, again helping others to know us...and helping us know others! Often, during football
season, Asbury hosts the local
high school's football team for a pregame meal.
Active Involvement in Worship
It is difficult to think of Asbury as "pastor up front and the congregation quietly sitting."
 At an Asbury service, one
will see a variety of lay activity. And not only by adults. The youth are actively involved, too!
There are always opportunities to get involved in worship. Lighting candles,
ushering, singing, and leading worhip are just a few of the visible examples of involvement. But, there
are many involved "behind the scenes," decorating the sanctuary, preparing bulletins, making sure sidewalks are cleared of snow,
and helping to plan various worship services.
The Worship Experience
At the heart of the Asbury congregation's involvement is worship. We are a Worshiping People! Here people are comforted, challenged, and stimulated.
The music in worship can cause our souls to
soar, and it can bring us to a spirit of deep contemplation. We can look around and see those who are much like us...and those that
may be very different in terms of age, occupation, education, and demeanor. However, as we look around, we know we are worshiping with
fellow Christians, expressing our praise, our thanks, and bringing our petitions.
Food and Fellowship!
And, it would be difficult to consider Asbury an American church without food! Food--lots of it and often--just seem to stimulate
fellowship. An Asbury tradition is "Second Sunday
Dinner." After services, we migrate to the church basement for a joyous time of food and fellowship. At various times,
our congregation provides meals for community groups and community events.
